Integrating Ideas

Integrating Ideas

As I reflect on my literacy journey I have realized the improvements I’ve made can be credited to the literacy exercises I’ve done along the way. One of these literacy exercises is my ability to integrate ideas. Having tools such as “The Little Seagull” and “They Say I Say” I have been able to learn the discourse of literacy. I have learned how to make embedded quotes and incorporate more of what I want to say into my writing. Having been a student who before would simply summarize what I have read with making little to no connections on my ideas to the authors such tools were beneficial. I have learned to to not only incorporate my ideas but also to challenge the authors. When comparing my first writing pieces to my significant writing project I have noticed more complex ideas, embedded quotes, and text to text connections. However one thing I have noticed that needs work is my explanation of relationships. My ability to explain text to text relationships has improved but still could use improvement. I find myself not explaining my ideas and why I feel it is important enough to be mentioned.
